The Childrens Society Essay Imagine a child who is scared, crying, lonely. Imagine if this was your child. This is what thousands of children are going through right now from abusive parents around the country. Every year 90,000 children run away from home due to abusive parents who let there aggression out on young children. But there is help, The Childrens Society is an organisation that works in Britain to try and prevent this from happening. The society runs safe houses out in the country so children can feel safe. This is only possible by public donation to this organisation. The public (you) have the power to change these childrens future into one that they will look forward too. I have watched two adverts produced to promote/raise The Childrens Society to see how they persuade you the audience to give money to this worthy cause. In advert one it uses lots of close up shots, which make the audience feel vulnerable. In the first frame a violent angry man leans into the camera, that makes the audience feel vulnerable. The man shouts, Shut up and sit down. This is an extreme close up. If this makes the audience feel vulnerable the audience wonders how the child must feel. In the second frame, this time instead of speaking the man uses body language. He looks very troubled with his hands on his head, this also is a close up. In the 3rd frame it uses voice-overs and intense sounds. You can hear the echoing of a slap, this is exaggerated. Then there is a blackout and then out of know where you see an arm coming towards the screen this makes the audience feel intimidated. Then a face appears and the hand hits the face and again there is a big echo from the slap that is exaggerated. Doing this it makes the audience feel as though it is them, like the arm coming towards the screen puts the audience in that moment to give them an idea of how the children feel (pain and sadness). Over all of this is voice over asking the audience questions, this makes the audience watching more involved and forces them to make up their mind on the questions being asked as they are watching it. After that frame it shows an adult leaning out of a window and goes into a blackout and back to that person outside at night slumped against some wall. Then there is a blackout again and it comes back to an extreme close up of an aggressive man. He is shouting but they have cut the sound so you cant hear him. Again it feels like he is shouting at the audience and this makes them feel vulnerable. Then it goes to another extreme close up of a man who is looking gloomy and then replaces the mans face with a little boys face which also looks dazed. The audience feels sorry for this little boy and then they have an orange background with black writing that says, They cant change their world on their own, but we can help. Using the word we makes the audience feel as though they have to help. The Logo that represents the charity also appears. The charity logo has what looks like their matchstick children coloured in red, blue and yellow. These colours are what we class as primary colours and we generally associate these colours with children. Its like ABC, when we think of this we think of young children so the same applies really to these basic colours that young children know. Advert two throughout has a popular Christmas soundtrack playing over the top, which is, War is over by John Lennon. In the lyrics it says, What have you done, this makes the audience think why this girl in the advert deserves any of this. In the first frame a caption at the bottom of the screen appears and says that 90,000 children run away each year. While a girl is walking in a busy place. In the second frame a red double decker drives along side her, which we generally associate with our capital London. They have put her in London because shes a small child all on her own and its such a big city for a little girl to be in. She is not dressed for winter weather. The parents watching would probably not think twice about putting warm clothing on their child when it is cold, so this makes them feel sorry for the little girl. She stands in front in front of two billboards one with Labradors sitting around a fire and the other has the words trusted and a can of larger underneath. She then walks by some homeless people standing around a fire. Even the homeless people have something to keep them warm. Then she walks past a bouncer who is leering at her. The man is about 40 and she is about 10 and there is a sign near him saying girls. She then walks past a gutter with syringes in and a man who looks drugged up. By know the audience are disgusted at what they have seen. The Childrens Society is trying to show to the audience that they need there donations to prevent children from be subjected to this type of behaviour in the world. Then they show the girls face with tears rolling down it. Nobody likes it when children cry and the audience will be feeling very sorry for the little girl. This image is very powerful. Then she comes past a BT billboard that says Christmas past and Christmas present a famous quote from Charles Dickins. It doesnt say future. This suggests to the audience that this girl doesnt have a future and the only way she will have one is if they donate some money to this organisation. Then at the bottom of the billboard there is white writing with a black background that says, Happy Christmas. This also suggests to the audience that she wont have a happy Christmas. All of these things are making the audience feel more depressed and they want to help this little girl. Then a black background appears with The Childrens Society and number 0839 800 900 so the audience can donate some money to the organisation. The depression that the audience feels know is bad and need to know that they have done something to help especially as it is around Christmas time when every should be with there family or friends. Both of these adverts have one thing in common they try to persuade/convince the audience at home to give money to their organisation The Childrens Society, which can only help these poor children with donations from people like yourself. But both of the adverts are in away different in how they get the message across. I think that advert 2 is more effective because everybody feels sorry for the 10-year-old girl. The clever aspect of this advert is as she walks down the street it shows what children can be exposed too and what their organisation is trying to prevent, for example when that man leered at her. Both adverts are very moving and powerful in how they are presented to the audience. Parents sitting watching the adverts will not want their children to ever experience what the girl or boy experienced from the first and second advert. They generally feel that they have to give some money. When the audience gives money they feel as though they have done something to help these children, especially if they have donated at a time like Christmas when people like to give, and people get satisfaction out of giving.

That riots happened had proven the Malaysian racial issues and stability had fragile. The formation of Rukun Negara are one of the method to overcome the racial issues between different races in Malaysia after the May 13th incidents has happened which involved hundreds of people are death in that particular incident. It happened when after election at year 1969 where Parti Tindakan Rakyat (DAP) dan Gerakan get a very good respond from the result of the election. Procession was held by them purpose for incident of one youth Chinese was killed in battle with policemen before the election was held. UMNO was felt be challenged of the result of the election although them still win the majority seats in parliament. Datuk Harun Idris led the riots happened. Purpose of this provocative procession happened was to set fire to the spirit of nationalism of every races in Malaysia. This riots happened until the police force was unable to control the situation. Army force had to be called to help police force to control the situations. At the state level, the citizens are required to devote loyalty to the king who ruled the land where they reside without reducing allegiance to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. HISTORY OF PROCTER & GAMBLE:Procter & Gamble Co., also known as P&G, is an American multinational consumer goods company headquartered in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Its products include pet foods, cleaning agents, and personal care products. Prior to the sale of Pringles to the Kellogg Company, its product line included foods and beverages. In 2012, P&G recorded $83.68 billion in sales. Fortune magazine awarded P&G a top spot on its list of â€Å"Global Top Companies for Leaders†, and ranked the company at fifteenth place of the â€Å"World's Most Admired Companies† list.Chief Executive Magazine named P&G the best overall company for leadership development in its list of the â€Å"40 Best Companies for Leaders†.THE POWER OF PURPOSE:Companies like P&G are a force in the world. Our market capitalization is greater than the GDP of many countries, and we market our products in more than 180 countries. With this stature comes both responsibility and opp ortunities. As a result, consumers will reward us with leadership sales, profit, and value creation, allowing our people, our shareholders, and the communities in which we live and work to prosper.†P&G PRODUCT:Downy is a brand name of fabric softener produced by Procter & Gamble and sold in the United States. It entered the U.S. test market in August 1960 and went nationwide in December 1961. It was also sold in Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Egypt and Latin America. Lenor is a brand name of fabric softener and dryer sheets, also produced by Procter & Gamble, sold in Europe, Russia, China and Japan. Plans to rebrand Lenor as Downy in the UK were dropped in 2002.CONCLUSION:My conclusion about my research about the retailers and suppliers of P&G is they have so many products manufactured inside and outside the Philippines, that’s why they are one of the best chosen products/company here in our country because of their quality and service they are providing to the customers so the customers can satisfy the needs and wants of their fellow customers. I also want to include that P&G will inspire many Filipinos to their products they introduce each and every time they produce a new product to the market.

Creating a Safe Environment: 2-4 year Olds Essay

As an early childhood provider working with 2-4 year old children I will be sure to provide a safe, healthy, and appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment that helps their developmental characteristics. When preparing my indoor learning environment as well as my outdoor learning environment I have to take into consideration each child; their needs, their skills, their backgrounds, etc. For my indoor learning environment it is extremely important to make sure that the area is welcoming for the students as well as the parents, I will make sure that the area is lit properly (natural light and/ or energy saving bulbs) and full of colors. The furniture in the classroom will be child sized and very sturdy. Children will also be assigned their own cubbies where they will be able to place their knapsacks and other belongings (this gives them a hint of independence). There will be different sections of the classroom for different activities (reading area, drama/pretend play area, ci rcle area, music area, etc.), not just for play but will enhance their social, emotional, physical and cognitive domains. I will also make sure that the entire classroom is cleaned on a daily basis and all toys are sanitized. I will also be sure that all sockets are covered with protectors and make sure that there are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers and an evacuation plan in the facility, as well as having clear pathways in case of an emergency. In the kitchen area I will make sure that all cabinets so children will not be able to have access to any hazardous materials as well as any foods. Also in the kitchen area I will have a bulletin board accessible to all kitchen staff to list the name of the children in the facility and their allergies (if any). In the restroom I will be sure that all toilets and washbasin’s are to the children’s reach so they can be more independent and for those who are being potty trained be sure that there are more than enough and be certain that they are cleaned (by an adult) after every use. Children will be encouraged to wash their hands often to reduce the spread of germs to each other. For  the outdoor learning environment, I will definitely make sure that the area is properly gated; there is no high grass or trash around on the floors. I will also make sure that the children have easy access to the restrooms, and be sure that there is a first aid kit handy. I definitely will make sure of the child to teacher ratio; this helps with keeping an eye on the children, which helps reduce the chances of one of them being seriously hurt. I will also make sure of the following: â€Å"Selection of play equipment is appropriate for children’s ages, play equipment is in good condition (e.g. no broken or rusty parts, missing pieces, splinters, sharp edges, frayed rope, open â€Å"S† hooks, or protruding bolts), Large pieces of equipment are stable and anchored securely in the ground; finishes are non-toxic and intact, Equipment is placed sufficiently far apart to allow a smooth flow of traffic and adequate supervision; an appropriate safety zone is provided around equipment, and, a variety of play surfaces (e.g. grass, concrete, and sand) is available; shade is provided† (Marotz, 2012), just to name a few. One thing that we have to keep in mind as an early childhood provider is the relationship between a person’s safety, health and nutrition. Parents entrust that their children are well taking care of each time they drop them off in our care; they want to make sure that they are feed a well-bal anced healthy and nutritional meal, and that they are safe from danger, so how is it that some may feel that these three things are not related. In my personal opinion they work hand in hand and very much so dependent on each other. Health, safety, and nutrition are very much so interrelated. Health is a state of wellness. Complete physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being; the quality of one element affects the state of the other; safety refers to the behaviors and practices that protect children as well as adults from unnecessary harm; and, nutrition refers to the science of food, its chemical components (nutrients), and their relationship to health and disease. It includes all of the processes, from the ingestion and digestion of food to the absorption, transportation, and utilization of nutrients, and finally the excretion of unused end products. Nutrients are essential for life and have a direct effect on a child’s nutritional status, behavior, health, and development† (Marotz, 2012). I cannot help but to agree with these examples given and it is best to have children practice these things as young as possible. In the 2-4 year old age group children  really mimic what they see us doing as adults. So if we eat healthy, exercise and practice thi ngs such as good hand washing, what do you think they will do? There are so many age-appropriate learning activities and toys that reinforce the important of health, nutrition, and safety for the 2-4 year old age group. I have listed a few that really caught my attention. This game will be considered a group game, this game teaches the children to identify their alphabets (upper and lower case) as well as their number; this game is called â€Å"Homemade Letter Bingo†, as we know â€Å"children learn through play. And letter or number bingo is a great place to start. The following items needed for this game are: printable bingo cards: numbers, alphabet, or numbers and letters, printable caller cards, small objects to use as markers, such as marshmallows, cereal, pennies, or M&M’s† (Richards, 2014). A second learning age-appropriate activity is that of â€Å"Cereal Patterns†: Practice patterning the fun way—by playing with your food! Using a Fruit Loop-type cereal and yarn, help your preschooler create crunchy, edible patterns. The following items needed for this learning activity is that of: Fruit Loops or other loop-shaped cereal in a variety of colors, small bowls or cups, age-appropriate scissors, yarn or string, and masking tape† (Edwards, 2012). Building blocks are great toys for children (whether blank or with letters on them). With building blocks it helps children in this age group (2-4 years old) with their problem solving skills, but what you will find most amazing is what they build out of the blocks. A nd another toy that will be considered age-appropriate is that of a kitchen set that will be located in the drama/pretend area. With this toy children pretend that they are chefs working in nice restaurants, they pretend that they are a parent cooking a nice meal for their families and the list goes on and on. But what I find so amazing with this age-group is that there is no limit to their imagination. However, we as educators have to continue to encourage the children to use their imagination, because they not only learn from us, we learn from them. An ideal location, space, and security of a center or school is very important, not only to the early childhood provider, but to the parents as well. â€Å"Nowhere is health and safety more important than in group programs serving young children. When families enroll children in a program, they expect that the teachers will safeguard their child’s well-being. They assume the facilities, toys, and  equipment will be safe for children’s use, that teachers will carefully supervise their children’s activities, that the environment is clean, and the food is healthy. These expectations require teachers to be well informed and knowledgeable about how to create and maintain environments that protect and promote childrenâ€℠¢s health and safety† (Marotz, 2012). We have to make sure that there is adequate space for the children to move around inside and outside; it is good to also make sure that the facility is not in a noisy location where the children can be easily distracted. But most of all we have to think about the health of our little ones, we have to make sure that the building is properly inspected so we can protect them as well as ourselves from potential hazards. As early childhood providers/educators it is our sole responsibility to make sure that the children that we care for will be given the best education and protection, this includes their safety, nutrition and health. One thing that I live by and believe is that the children are our future, so it is our duty to mold them from young. I choose to work with the age group of 2-4 year olds because the one thing that amazes me with them is their imagination which increases their ability to learn. As an educator for such young children you have to able to open enough for them to teach you as well.
